The History of Beads – by Bobbye Brown, The Bead Lady!
Known as “The Bead Lady,”  Bobbye weaves together the craft of beading, why people wear jewelry, and the social history of the cultures who created the beaded works.  It’s not hard to teach someone how to bead, but the significant part is why we wear beads, the people who made them and how the beads were used.

When Bobbye talks about the whale, abalone and glass beads, she also talks about how the Northwest Native American tribes traded with the white settlers.  Bobbye will have a booth at Bead Expo next to the Portland Bead Society.

Make sure to stop by and visit with her and LEARN something new about beads and their history!
