Laura Andrews

Laura has been beading since she was a child. Her mother taught her beading on a loom while sharing the importance of originality. Training in art, color, theatrical costuming, lampwork, metalwork, beading and communication have led Laura to teaching beadwork as art. This includes training in Japan. As a recognized international instructor, Laura is eager to share with you her love of bead artistry.

Dale Cougar Armstrong

Dale “Cougar” Armstrong is a diehard rockhound, lapidary, and a full-time wire artist and instructor, with more than 30 years of experience. She teaches at major jewelry events, as well as in her personal studio in Southeastern Tennessee. Her award-winning work has appeared in many publications, and she had made a series of instructional DVDs, produced by Jewelry Television. She is a regular contributor to Step by Step Wire Jewelry.

Meredith Arnold is a mixed media artist/teacher and comedian. She is currently on faculty at three colleges, and teaches workshops around the country. Her work has been published in many books and is exhibited all over the United States. Her classes are known for the volume of information and humor that she brings to the classroom for her students' benefit.

Janice Berkebile

Janice Berkebile is a longtime wire and bead artist and instructor. A native of the Pacific Northwest, Janice finds inspiration in nature’s organic forms, Japanese motifs, textiles techniques and the sinuous lines found in the Art Nouveau movement. “My focus is sculptural wirework and becoming intimate with the subtleties of wirework and sharing these techniques with my students,” Janice says. She teaches at bead stores and shows nationwide and is a frequent contributor to Beadwork magazine. Her work has won awards at the 2005 Puget Sound Bead Festival, Bead Dreams 2006, and Dairybarn.

Janice has recently partnered with Tracy Stanley to form Wired Arts. They will be creating a website called website wiredarts.net, and will be leading wirework retreats.

Perie Brown

Perie Brown has been beading and teaching for several years. She has taught at Bead Fest, Bead Expo, and Bead & Button Shows. Her work has been featured in Step by Step Beads, Belle Armoire, and Bead & Button magazines. She is founder and past president of the Hall of Fame Beaders' Guild in Canton, Ohio.

Joan Dulla

Nationally and Internationally known for Crocheted gold, silver and niobium jewelry and sculpture, Joan's work has been featured in Lapidary Journal, Bead and Button , Wire Jewelry and Ornament Magazines. She won Best of Competition in Lapidary Journal's Jewelry Arts Award 2004 , and First Place Reactive Metals Distinction 2005 American Vision Award.

Darla Fanton

A needle arts teacher and designer for more than twenty years, Darla J. Fanton enjoys sharing her love of crochet with fiber fanatics across the country. Add beads to the mixture and it just increases the enjoyment! Darla is a frequent contributor to hard cover books, sole author of numerous booklets, magazine articles, and her own pattern line, Designs by Darla J. Certified by the Craft Yarn Council of America, Darla is a popular teacher at national conferences, local guilds, and yarn shops where she is known for her patience and detailed instructions.

Janet Farris

Janet Farris is a full-time artist who also finds time for teaching and writing. She started her own business, “From The Heart,” in 1982 to encompass all of her creative endeavors. “Art has always been a part of my life,” Janet says. “I started working with polymer clay in 1981. I love its wonderful versatility. My favorite technique is creating design canes and discovering new ways to incorporate the designs into my artwork.” This work has led her to explore metal clay, glass fusing, and casting as well. Susan Lewis

Susan Lewis, an enamellist and jewelry fabricator for more than 25 years, has exhibited in museums and galleries nationally. She taught jewelry classes at Boca Raton Museum Art School for 15 years and, in 2001, designed the school’s jewelry studio and developed its jewelry program. In September 2006, she opened a new studio, Metalmorphosis Studio, to devote more time to her own creative work and included space to continue teaching her existing students and offer workshops. Susan was educated at Kent State University, Penland School of Crafts, and was PMC Certified in 1999.

Karen Lewis

Polymer clay and beads have been a passion of Karen Lewis for more than 20 years. Karen has been published in books, periodicals and videos. Her beads are in the permanent collection of the Bead Museum in Arizona. She also owns 2 bead stores. Karen has been a certified instructor of metal clay since 1998.

Connie Nabholz

Connie Nabholz has had a lifelong involvement in the arts, from oil painting to fiber arts. In 1998 she discovered beads, and in 2000 she started incorporating wire and gemstones into her work. She has won numerous awards at fine art shows, and was a finalist in 2006 both the TOHO and Swarovski design contests. Connie loves sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with others and has been teaching for 6 years.

Audrey Parramore

Audrey Parramore was inspired towards beading through her career as a fashion designer. As a self-taught artist beading has been her passion, she enjoys learning and developing new and exciting techniques. Audrey is raising a young son, teaches beading in Florida, and is working on writing a book for intermediate-to-advanced beaders.

C.R. Radding

C. R. Radding maintains a 25 year-old business of fabricating soft furnishings for interiors while she wanders her own creative path. A life-long fascination for all types of art and needlework led to the discovery of beading and wirework, and she knew she'd found her creative “home.” For the past eight years, C. R. has been teaching in California and other parts of the country, and takes great delight in sharing her skills while helping others expand their own creative voice.

Leah Henriquez Ready

Leah Henriquez Ready’s love of beads and fibers began as a child. Drawn to beads because of their portability, Leah finds the variety of colors, textures and surfaces enables her to create whatever her mind imagines. “I enjoy all beadwork,” Leah says, “but my favorite is bead embroidery. I want students to gain confidence in their abilities so they can create on their own.” Leah teaches part-time, participates in about 10 art shows each year, and shows her work in a gallery.

Sue Ripsch

Sue is a chainmaille artist and designer. She teaches classes in Wisconsin and Las Vegas, Nevada. She also teaches at national shows across the country. Her husband, Steve, makes her jump rings in several metals and multiple sizes. Sue started her professional life as a registered nurse, but for the last few years has been working with chain maille jewelry, sometimes combined with crystals. She has been teaching students the art of jewelry making in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Ann Severine began beading in 1991. For the last 6 years she has taught her designs at many stores and bead societies in California, Colorado, New Mexico and Michigan. Ann also has visited Saraguro, Ecuador and teaches their unique beading designs and techniques.

Liz Smith

Liz Smith has lived most of her life in Los Angeles except for 15 years she spent teaching in Germany for the Dept. of Defense Overseas Schools. During numerous trips to Venice, she became fascinated with beads, and today finds inspiration everywhere. “I relish the freedom of starting with a simple idea and the excitement of letting the beads dictate the shape and form of the finished piece,” Liz says. “Beading has become my passion, my obsession, and my new career since retiring from the elementary school classroom six years ago. I love creating a piece of jewelry that causes people to stop and stare, to reach out, and touch.”

Tracy Stanley

Tracy Stanley has gained a deep appreciation for natural and organic elements through living in the Pacific Northwest, an appreciation that is is reflected in her work and in her art. “I began teaching 15 years ago and get great satisfaction in passing on my knowledge and skills,” Tracy says. “Teaching my students solid techniques will help them create quality pieces they can be proud of.” Tracy is a partner in Wired Arts, which hosts retreats that focus on wire. She teaches at a local bead store and travels to teach at bead stores and shows nationally as well.

Michael David Sturlin

Michael David Sturlin is an internationally renowned studio jewelry artist, educator, and award winning goldsmith. Michael's jewelry has appeared in 50 magazine articles and is displayed in select galleries throughout North America. Michael teaches marketing and goldsmithing at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts and offers workshops and professional development classes at many jewelry industry events. Elizabeth Townes

Elizabeth Townes has been beading since March 2003 when she and her daughter started BeadJeweled, Inc. She began stringing but was soon intrigued with the endless possibilities offered by seed beads. Elizabeth began teaching classes in the fall of 2003 at local bead shops, then progressed to teaching at the national level. She has always been involved in creative endeavors, from cross-stitch to needlepoint to quilting, but has finally found her niche in designing with seed beads and bead weaving. In April 2006, Elizabeth and her partners opened the Tampa Bead Café.

Larkin Jean Van Horn

Larkin Van Horn is a mixed-media textile artist, author, and teacher from Whidbey Island (near Seattle), working primarily in art quilts, beadwork, and wearable art with a specific interest in pieces for liturgical and spiritual settings. Her work represents her imagination, her love for the amazing variety of materials from around the world, and her strong dramatic sense. Larkin travels nationally to lecture and teach, and her enthusiasm and sense of humor in the classroom are infectious. She recently completed her second book, Beading On Fabric, (Interweave Press, 2006).

Noël Yovovich

Noël Yovovich lives and works in Evanston, Illinois, but draws much of her inspiration from her childhood in rural Florida. She grew up near Tampa and Sarasota in an area where wildlife was outnumbered people, especially children. The locale was popular as a winter and retirement spot for traveling circus and carney performers, and her nearest neighbors were a retired clown, a sword-swallower and a professional fat lady. Noël later pursued a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Chicago, and art professionally. Her jewelry style draws on imagery from nature, as well as her experience creating "thematic apperception test" drawings for the University of Chicago department of Human Development. She regards her work as "everyday art," pieces that are unique and accessible, unusual and affordable, and that can be worn anywhere, anytime.

Jan Zicarelli

Jan has been beading for about 15 years and teaching for 10 years. She especially enjoys bead sculpture and has had her work shown in many national exhibits and in Japan. Jan's bead art has been published in several books and magazines, including 500 Beaded Objects, 500 Baskets and The Art of Beaded Beads. Jan lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband Jim and two cats. She has 2 grown sons who are pursuing their educations.
